Welcome

The third Mega event to be held in the UK will take place on Saturday 31st July 2010, when the big event travels North to the Scottish town of Perth.

As well as the main event we are planning a full range of side events, trade stands, geo-talks, raffle prizes, geocoin trading, travel bug swaps, and of course everything will be in place to let you go caching like crazy. Needless to say there will also be ample opportunity to speak to fellow cachers as well!

We will be regularly updating this website with the details of everything that is going on, but in the meantime, please register your attendance at the event by clicking below.

As well as the main event during the day, we are planning to hold the first Mega Céilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) This is a fantastic opportunity to sample a traditional Scottish Party which includes dancing, food and refreshments. The event will take place during the evening of the Mega event at the Dewars centre in Perth.

The Céilidh music will be provided by a live band, which may include a fiddle, accordion, a tin whistle, etc. Please note that this is expected to be a popular event and entrance will be by ticket only with the cost of the ticket being used to fund the running of the event. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from here.

Camping event
A team of experienced campers have looked at an number of different locations in and around perth and its good to let you know that we now have the choice down to two locations. At present there are a couple of points to clarify with each site before we can make a final decision You will be glad to hear that both sites are suitable and would be able to cope with all of us in a single location. Further details will be posted here when available and an email will also be sent to everyone who has already registered.

Satellite Events
A number of side events are being planned and these can be seen on the Side Events page. As you can see we have a range of events planned and these include the Camping Event, CITO, Munro walks, gentler walks, night event etc. Details of all these and other side events will be posted on the Side Events page when available.

Dogs
We know how much cachers regard their dogs as team members and we want all cachers to enjoy their time at Mega Scotland so if you are planning to have your dog with you at the Mega or any of the sub events then please read the Dog page.

Banner
We have now added a downloadable banner that is suitable to be used on all your cache pages to advertise the event - please use it on all your caches.

Coins
Previously we held a competition to design a geocoin and this coin is now available from this page. To the right is a picture of one of the 2 winners who recently received her prize at the Mega Scotland Xmas Fare.

Calendar
The Mega Scotland 2010 calendar is selling well and is an ideal Xmas present for geocachers or non geocachers a like. the calendar is produced using stunning photographs all taken by various members of the organising team. The back page also lists the location of each photo. Click here to go to the calendar page.
