Welcome

The third Mega event to be held in the UK will take place on Saturday 31st July 2010, when the big event travels North to the Scottish town of Perth.

As well as the main event we are planning a full range of side events, trade stands, geo-talks, raffle prizes, geocoin trading, travel bug swaps, and of course everything will be in place to let you go caching like crazy. Needless to say there will also be ample opportunity to speak to fellow cachers as well!

We will be regularly updating this website with the details of everything that is going on, but in the meantime, please start to register your attendance at the event by clicking below.

As well as the main event during the day, we are planning to hold the first Mega Céilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) This is a fantastic opportunity to sample a traditional Scottish Party which includes dancing, food and refreshments. The event will take place during the evening of the Mega event at the Dewars centre in Perth.

The Céilidh music will be provided by a live band, which may include a fiddle, accordion, a tin whistle, etc. Please note that this is expected to be a popular event and entrance will be by ticket only with the cost of the ticket being used to fund the running of the event. Tickets are expected to go on sale during November.

Venue/Dates
As mentioned above, the Mega event next year is to be held at the Dewars Conference Centre, Perth on Saturday 31st July 2010. (see the Location page for more details).

Camping event
A team of experienced campers are currently scouring the area and visiting locations to find the ideal location for the campsite. We are taking into account the feedback we have received from visitors to Weston Super-Mare to hopefully bring you a great site meeting as many cachers requirements as possible. We hope to announce the location of the camp site very shortly.

Satellite Events
A number of side events are being planned and these can be seen on the Side Events page. As you can see we have a range of events planned and these include the Camping Event, CITO, Munro walks, gentler walks, night event etc. Details of all these and other side events will be posted on the Side Events page when available.

Dogs
We know how much cachers regard their dogs as team members and we want all cachers to enjoy their time at Mega Scotland so if you are planning to have your dog with you at the Mega or any of the sub events then please read the Dog page.

Banner
We have now added a downloadable banner that is suitable to be used on all your cache pages to advertise the event - please use it on all your caches.

Coins
The children's coin competition has now been judged and the winners can be found on the coins results page. The coin that will be produced from this is expected to be available around mid October.

Team R&L who won the hamperQuestionnaire
During the main event at Weston Super Mare we asked those attending to fill out a questionnaire to find out what was wanted for next years event in Perth. (We did the same thing at the Mega Scotland launch event in September.)

As part of an incentive to get cachers to complete the form, we were offering a prize for the first completed entry out of the hat. Congratulations go to team R&L for their winning entry.
