The third Mega event to be held in the UK will take place on Saturday 31st July 2010, when the big event travels North to the Scottish town of Perth.

As well as the main event we are planning a full range of side events, trade stands, geo-talks, raffle prizes, geocoin trading, travel bug swaps, and of course everything will be in place to let you go caching like crazy. Needless to say there will also be ample opportunity to speak to fellow cachers as well!

Ye Ole Survey Monuments cache
Just to let you know that the Ye Ole Survey Monuments cache is now close to the location of the Mega Scotland event so take this opertunity to log this cache whilst you are up on Kinnoull Hill. For more information about this cache which is constantly changing its location please look at yosm.org.uk or or visit the cache page.

Helpline
We have added a helpline to the website so that should you find a cache that urgently needs maintenance when you are here you can call us and we will attempt to contact the cache owner on your behalf. For more details please go to the Helpline page.

Free WiFi access
We have added a list of around 26 locations in Perthshire which offers free WiFi access to the website. This page can be found in the Location section or click here for more information.

Event Coin
The Mega Scotland Event attendees coin will be available for purchase at the Mega Event on the 31st. thaks to everyone one who has purchased one so far and it can be collected whne you register at the event..

Geotalks
The list of geotalks that we will be running at the Mega Event has now been published and as you can see from the program there are talks available for all levels of geocachers. The talks will start at 10:30am and will run through out the day in both the Hay Room and the Gannochy Suite. Both of these rooms are to be found on the upper level of the building which can be accessed via the staircase in the entrance area. Click here to view the list of Geotalks.

Cache Clusters and Public Transport
In order to you help plan your time whilst you are here at the Mega Event, we have added two more pages to the Location section. The first shows where the the local cache clusters occur and the other provides access to a planning tool for detailing journeys using public transport.

The cache cluster information is displayed on an interactive map and using your mouse, you can quickly zoom into all the cluster locations. Clicking on each cache will display some basic information about it and within this information there are links back to the relevant cache page on geocaching.com. Click here to display the cache cluster page.

A few people have asked about public transport and we have added a plug in from the Travel Line Scotland website to help you plan your journeys. The calculator offers detailed journey information and will accept place names, postcodes, landmarks etc as valid start and end points. Click here to display the public transport calculator page.

Registrations pass the 1000 mark
Its good to see that earlier this year in May we received our 1000th person registering for Mega Scotland. Its clearly going to be an international event as we have received registrations from cachers living in 21 different countries around the world. For details of which countries these are and some other demographic information then please click here

Your comments/ideas
We welcome your suggestions, and comments - please visit the discussion forum, and we hope you will take an active part in making this a successful event.

Flag Counter
In order to gauge the international aspect to the event we have recently added a 'flag' counter, and as you can see below, its not just those from the UK who are showing an interest in the event.
