Welcome
The third Mega event to be held in the UK will take place on Saturday 31st July 2010, when the big event travels North to the Scottish town of Perth.
As well as the main event we are planning a full range of side events, trade stands, geo-talks, raffle prizes, geocoin trading, travel bug swaps, and of course everything will be in place to let you go caching like crazy. Needless to say there will also be ample opportunity to speak to fellow cachers as well!
We will be regularly updating this website with the details of everything that is going on, but in the meantime, please register your attendance at the event by clicking below.

As well as the main event during the day, we are planning to hold the first Mega Céilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) This is a fantastic opportunity to sample a traditional Scottish Party which includes dancing, food and refreshments. The event will take place during the evening of the Mega event at the Dewars centre in Perth.
The Céilidh music will be provided by a live band, which may include a fiddle, accordion, a tin whistle, etc. Please note that this is expected to be a popular event and entrance will be by ticket only with the cost of the ticket being used to fund the running of the event. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from here.
Geotalks at Mega Scotland
The list of geotalks that we will be running at the Mega Event has now been published and as you can see from the program there are talks available for all levels of geocachers. The talks will start at 10:30am and will run through out the day in both the Hay Room and the Gannochy Suite. Both of these rooms are to be found on the upper level of the building which can be accessed via the staircase in the entrance area. Click here to view the list of Geotalks.
Cache Clusters and Public Transport
In order to you help plan your time whilst you are here at the Mega Event, we have added two more pages to the Location section. The first shows where the the local cache clusters occur and the other provides access to a planning tool for detailing journeys using public transport.
The cache cluster information is displayed on an interactive map and using your mouse, you can quickly zoom into all the cluster locations. Clicking on each cache will display some basic information about it and within this information there are links back to the relevant cache page on geocaching.com. Click here to display the cache cluster page.
A few people have asked about public transport and we have added a plug in from the Travel Line Scotland website to help you plan your journeys. The calculator offers detailed journey information and will accept place names, postcodes, landmarks etc as valid start and end points. Click here to display the public transport calculator page.
Camping
The good news is that we have now formalised arrangements for the Mega camping site and the full details are listed
on the Mega Camping page.
In addition to this the camping event page is now published, click here to view it.
Coins
The Haggis
& Nessie coin soon sold out after they went on sale however a new coin is now available.
The latest coin in our Scottish themed series is in honour of the renowned Scottish botanist David Douglas. David was born in close to Perth and he introduced over 200 species of plants in to Britain back in the early 19th century. In recognition of his achievements the Douglas Fir tree was named after him.
This is as a lovely coin and is now available to purchase so get yours soon before they all sell out!
